Maxwell, Caleb, Benjamin and Isaac
These three-year-old quadruplets were born at 32 weeks gestation. One of the boys was admitted directly to the NICU. Soon after, his brothers developed worsening respiratory distress and were transferred from the Level II nursery to the NICU to join him. All four boys had immature lungs; three of them were intubated and given surfactant, and one was placed on CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure). They all recovered relatively quickly. Once they were able to eat, they were discharged home.
These active boys keep their parents quite busy! Thanks to early intervention, they are getting the help they need to catch up developmentally. They are in speech, physical, and occupational therapy.
