Ronald E. Hoekstra, MD
Dr. Hoekstra graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis and received his BS and MD degrees from the University of Minnesota. He completed his Pediatrics residency at the Mayo Clinic and is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. Dr. Hoekstra has been at Children’s Hospital-Minneapolis since 1979 and has been the medical director of the NICU Follow-up Clinic for the past 27 years. His special interests include surfactant replacement therapy and long-term outcome of the extremely premature extremely low birth weight infant. Dr. Hoekstra is the co-author of the book Before Their Time: Lessons in Living From Those Born Too Soon.
